Oh Shit: Superbad To Be Spoofed

When thinking of an approriate title for this article many things came to mind. Most of those included some type of curse word like you see above. Reason? I don’t think I need to supply one since the makers of the upcoming Superbad spoof, Goodie Two Shoes, won’t be providing a valid reason for making their film. It’s going to revolve around a “group of friends who go on a life-changing adventure.” I can almost read the tagline now: “The creators of Meet the Spartans and Epic Movie bring you a new kind of cuming of age story…”

With the recent success of Meet The Spartans (and Superbad) this was almost inevitable. If this news isn’t disheartening enough, Goodie Two Shoes will also take hits at other upcoming films like Hancock (the Will Smith superhero movie), The Love Guru (basically Michael Myer’s India themed version of Austin Powers), and Sex and the City. One can guess that all of these films will be better than their spoof counterpart. Yes, mark my words, I’m actually endorsing (in a twisted sort of way) both a Sex and the City and Will Smith superhero movie.

The normal spoofable celebrities will also receive their respective parts. You can probably guess this list but I’ll give it to you anyway: Jessica Simpson, Flava Flav, Dr. Phil, Angelina Jolie, Paris Hilton, and Michael Jackson. Don’t get confused, they’re finding look-a-likes to play these roles. Shooting begins in Louisiana on April 28th and is expected to wrap up around June 6th of this year. Since the information has been given to the public, I’m guessing producers are expecting someone to stop this from happening. Hello? Anyone?

I’m hoping that directors Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer will at least find the common decency to let this be the final chapter in their spoof series. But that’s about as likely as the Miami Dolphins winning the Super Bowl next year. This is all too sad considering I actually liked last year’s rendition of Superbad and would be rather displeased to see the formula fucked with.

This news arrives in the wake of last weekend’s box office bust, Superhero Movie, which received a mix of bad reviews with little audience support. You can read the full scoop over at /Film. In the meantime, let the SuperBAD jokes begin.

How do you spoof Superbad? That’s like spoofing Super Troopers or something. This is the worst news I have ever heard since Superbad is easily one of my favorite movies ever.

  2. Daniel Frohlich Says:

Yeah, I’ve never really understood how one can spoof a comedy of any kind. It’s a tricky task.

  3. Robb Vedvick Says:

Yeah a “tricky task” that can’t be done by these dumbshits. They should do society a favor and find careers in the fast food industry.
