I’m Officially Ready For The Dark Knight

After seeing Batman Begins in 2005 I was extremely excited. Finally, a director who respects Batman’s darker edge and cares about creating an engaging story. I’m not ready to say that Batman Begins is the best superhero movie ever made but it’s certainly in contention. Christopher Nolan is looking to go one step further this time around by embracing Frank Miller’s Batman, which means it’s going to be even darker. Duh, what else would you expect with a title like The Dark Knight (which, by the way, is the most bad ass sequel name ever).

A lot of Batman stuff is going on today especially. It’s expected that a full length trailer will be released later tonight but to hold us over Omelete has posted a slew of new teaser posters. This was the final straw for my silence on the issue. I’m expecting this version of Batman to be even better than the last with the addition of two strong supporting characters, Aaron Eckhart and Maggie Gyllenhaal (replacing Katie Holmes as Rachel Dawes).

Not to knock Jack Nicholson’s performance but I also think Heath Ledger is going to be the better of the two Jokers. I’m basing my decision mostly on the direction taken in the newer films. The old Tim Burton Batman films get too much undeserved shit but they aren’t without some well deserved criticism. I still think Danny DeVito was an incredibly awesome Penguin in the second film, though.

Some people may disagree with me but one fatal flaw that occurs in every Batman film are the constant costume changes. I don’t care how rich Bruce Wayne is; he can’t pay off all these costume designers whenever he wants some new duds. I await consecutive Batman films that keep the same outfit. With that said, here are the new posters featuring yet another wardrobe change.
