Ok, Some Real Quantum Of Solace Stuff
As many of you probably figured out, that “Something of Boris” video I posted a few weeks back wasn’t exactly the song Jack White/Alicia Keys made. It was just my excuse to post something about what could be one of the better action movies to come out this year, if not the best (I exclude The Dark Knight from being categorized under the genre). I didn’t include Quantum of Solace on my most anticipated list for two reasons. First, I try to exclude all the big name films that will end up getting a lot of unwarranted attention in comparison to much better films. Second, I still have some uneasy feelings about some of it.
Despite Quantum of Solace being the follow up to one of the best Bond films of all time, it doesn’t have the same crew returning. In exchange for director Martin Campbell (who also directed GoldenEye) we get the prolific Marc Forster (Monsters Ball, Stranger than Fiction). Ok wait; we’re getting an even better director this time around and arguably a better cinematographer to boot? Maybe this will be better than I originally imagined. If nothing else, we’ll soon learn if Daniel Craig has been set up to appear in the best of the bond films or if he’ll end up going down the tube like Pierce Brosnan did.
On top of those two added bonuses we also get a much better villain this time, too. Mathieu Amalric will be playing Dominic Greene, one of those evil guys you’ll undoubtedly love to hate. Mathieu did a splendid job playing a paraplegic in last year’s The Diving Bell and the Butterfly (although most of you probably remember him from Munich instead).
Sounds like fun. Here’s the trailer.
