Reporting For Robb On X-Files 2

Robb has pretty much disappeared lately for disclosed reasons but he’ll be returning shortly, I think. I’ve decided to take on a few topics that don’t have any particular interest to me but Robb is probably jizzing himself right now over the news. This includes X-Files 2. Robb has always bothered me to see X-Files: Fight the Future and I can even vaguely remember him saying it was one of his favorite movies of all time, but don’t quote me on that fact. I was never interested in the TV show or movie so I’ve failed to meet his request by choice. Alas, now we have a sequel to the popular TV show turned movie and it’s getting my interested peeked at least a little more than other recent sci-fi mysteries.
When the first X-Files movie was released in 1998 Roger Ebert said, and I quote, “As pure movie, The X-Files more or less works. As a story, it needs a sequel, a prequel, and Cliff Notes.” Well, we’re still be missing a prequel and Cliff notes but at least they’ve decided to make a sequel. Probably not for the same reasons Ebert was calling for but they did it anyway. It’s quite obvious this is probably going to be the last mark X-Files gets to make in history and that can mean one of two things for the movie. It’s going to be horrible (from a pure movie-goer standpoint) but will cater to fans needs, or it will be even better than its predecessor. It’s hard for me to say which is more likely since I’ve failed to watch anything X-Files but either way this should make fans happy.
I guess I should explain why I never watched the series/movie. I’ve seen clips and I tend to agree more with Zero Punctuation reviewer, Yahtzee Croshaw, than I do with Robb when he described Mulder as having the charisma of a cardboard cutout. Plus at my young age it looked too boring for my feeble mind to pay attention longer than two seconds.
Anyway, the real news is that the official title was just announced today: The X-Files: I Want to Believe. Coming from a non-fan of the series I must admit it sounds pretty spiffy and is definitely something old fans will come to appreciate (basing that statement off feedback from fan sites and etc). Maybe an appropriate write-up with more details and insight will be posted when Robb returns, or not.
